Looking for an easy, fun, and healthy Halloween treat? Look no further! This snack, Spicy Jack-O’-Lantern seeds, is fun to make, fun to bake, and fun to taste!

Spicy Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients
  • 1 cup raw, pumpkin seeds
  • 3/4 tsp. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder

*Note: If you want truly spicy seeds, add 1/4 tsp. of cayenne pepper!

Directions
  1. First, go to a pumpkin patch and pick a nice pumpkin. Then, carve the pumpkin and extract all of the seeds. Be sure to wash them very well and dry them off.
  2. After this, preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Place all of the seeds on a baking sheet, and add the oil, salt, and chili powder.
  3. Finally, bake until golden brown for 30 to 45 minutes. You should stir them every 10 minutes to ensure even baking.
  4. Be sure to wait for them to cool before you dig in!
To save time, you could also grab some raw pumpkin seeds from the bulk section at your local grocery store! We’ve also tried other flavors, including chai (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger), and pizza (oregano, garlic powder)!
Pumpkin seeds, when eaten in a sufficient amount (1/2 oz) are a good source of protein. They are loaded with nutrients and healthy fats. These tasty seeds provide numerous health benefits! Making this snack would be fun for the entire family. Happy carving and happy eating!
